The Southington Drive-In is a great community activity the town of Southington offers that is truly unique. Re-opened as a town-owned and volunteer-operated drive-in theater in 2010, the Southington Drive-In has been bringing the wonders of the silver screen to viewers of all ages throughout the summer months – and we at Miceli Productions love to be a part of this amazing past time.
The Drive-In really allows us at Miceli Productions to give back to the Southington community and to invoke community spirit. While we put together the commercial reels before the films, this year we also created our own commercial to play during the pre-show entertainment reel. It was a typography-based visual project that gives our location within Southington, CT, but also invites viewers to get to know us as a company and as community supporters.
We are also excited to announce that the Southington Drive-In will be having a Halloween double-feature festival coming up this Saturday! Though the usual run of the Drive-In is every Saturday during the summer months, a Halloween festival had been started four years ago that is hosted by the Drive-In. Beginning at 2 P.M., the festival includes hayrides, faceprinting, and other fun activities until the two films play at night – Hocus Pocus and The Shining.
Come down and have a fun night at the movies with the Southington Drive-In to start off your Halloween celebrations!

Her gaze is directed directly into the camera for added intensity. The result is an intense portrait that harkens to Drew Barrymore’s image on the DVD cover of the movie, Firestarter.

This image was taken during a horror photo shoot with a young model. We chose a costume that evoked a timeless aspect, gave her a shipwrecked look both in and out of the water, then added prop elements that gave the image context – a washed up doll, a dagger and water plants that she dragged up on shore with her. We then recolored the photo to give it elements of contrast and boost her facial expressions as the focus of the image. The result is a creepy portrait a la the movie The Grudge.

For those of you that have had the pleasure of visiting us at the Miceli Productions’ Studio over the years, you know that we’ve been in the same location since 2007 – an old 1900 red farmhouse on the corner of Berlin and Vermont in Southington. Last year we added a second location across town, as a Shooting Space to accommadate our larger gear, photo backdrops, green screens, photographic lighting and other equipment too big for our Studio. It was a challenge to schedule things in two locations. But that’s now a thing of the past.
We use Mike and his company numerous times a year and his work consistently exceeds expectations. He's able to take raw video footage and with little or no guidance turn it into an effective web or video piece that captures the essence of our individual productions, creating a positive impact on web traffic and sales. Great with turnaround and has been very accommodating with scheduling."
