1. When Do I Want This Video to be Completed?
It’s highly unlikely that you as a business professional want to have a video created with no real timeline. It isn’t as if you are going to shrug your shoulders and be keen on the idea of having video content take six months to create. If you already know what content you want included in your video, ask the producer approximately how much time it should take to get everything finished. If there is a certain deadline you have in mind, express that to the producer so you can get your completed product in a timely manner.
2. How Much am I Willing and Able to Spend?
As seemingly trite and cliche as this overused expression may be, you truly do get what you pay for. Generally, the more you invest, the higher quality the result will be. That said, it is important to think very carefully about what you can pay for in regard to video content and have a budget in mind before looking for a video production professional to do work for you. Not only must you have a concise idea of what you want your video to include, you should set measurable goals you wish to reach after sharing that video with the public, your target audience, and your current customers. Are you looking to broaden your reach across social media? Do you want to share the latest information about your company, a product launch, or a new service? Is there an inspirational and entertaining story you wish to share with your customers? Determine why it is that you are creating the video and what you expect from sharing it with the public. Your producer should have clear knowledge of what deliverables you are after.

Because video content is so heavily visual, it is easy to forget the other equally important element of video: audio. Before hiring a video producer, think about your audio needs. Do you want music included in the video and if so, what genre of music? Will you include a voice over in the video? If this is the case, will you do the voice over in-house or will you hire a voice over professional? Make a list of all of your audio goals and needs and have them ready to discuss with the video producer before getting started on the project. If you are using a voice over, you will want to have everything you need said in the video written down. There is a good chance that you will need a script if you plan to have a voice over.
