Visual content.

We found this great infographic by the team at The Deep End that highlights some of the hot current conversion boosting trends in web design this year.

We all want to boost conversions. And this is a great list. You know what struck us immediately?  The fact that most of them are about the visual. Make your images big, drive them with color, keep the visuals you want noticed on screen, use video, make images pinterest-ly accessible.

We're going to take this a little further and talk about the images and video that you choose to integrate into your web design.  Photography is a key element of web design. Large full-width images are in vogue, and as those images get larger and higher resolution they need to pass higher and higher quality standards. With the accessibility and consumer love of photographic visuals, we don't see this trend going away anytime soon, and sites that shine with great photography will have a leg up on their competition. People are attracted to other people - especially if you show happy people they can connect with. And, if you're looking to have your customers, clients or consumers connect with your staff, what better way than to actually show the real people behind your magic? Take the time to capture your company, your environment, and your people. Authenticity matters.

Want to go a step further? Use a cinemagraph, animated or live action video to highlight a service or feature for your landing pages.

In the past few years, you've definitely heard someone say it... "Video is getting bigger." "You can't afford to not have video on your website." "Customers love video." "Video converts."

Relationships are built on trust. On-site video is a strong advantage when building trust for your visitors. A well-done video speaks directly to the person on the other side of that screen. Whether it's a welcome video, a testimonial, a product demo or an explainer video — all can begin a conversation with that person. And that first conversation can grow into a relationship.
